HALFEN and CADENAS develop IFC interface for intelligent data exchange in the civil engineering sector

The times when architects had to develop their drafts with a pencil and scale paper are long gone. Like in many other professions, increasingly more architects rely on computer generated 3D CAD models for their designs. To ensure seamless information exchange between planners, building owners and developers, it is recom-mendable to use a standardized exchange format. HALFEN, one of the most successful international compa-nies in the fields of concrete anchoring, framing and facade fixing technology has now developed a new inter-face for ICF format together with the software expert CADENAS from Augsburg.

The ICF interface developed by CADENAS, in cooperation with HALFEN, is an independent data interface registered and standardized in accordance with ISO 16739 (IFC2x3) to describe digital building models.IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) is a BIM (Building Information Modeling) exchange format developed by buildingSMART. The aim is to allow architects, engineers and developers to use CAD and CAFM systems as well as software tools effectively and exchange information completely and faultlessly.
